Chrystyna D. Kouros, Ph.D

I am an Associate Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Family Health & Development Lab in the Department of Psychology at Southern Methodist University.

Before joining the faculty in 2011, I completed my B.A. at the University of Chicago, M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!), and was a postdoctoral research fellow at Vanderbilt University.

In my research, I am interested in learning about how and why the family environment contributes to couples', parents', and children's mental health. Some of the family processes I study are: marital conflict, parental psychopathology, and helicopter parenting behaviors. My research involves both families raising typically-developing children and children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
